Lionel Messi added another record to his ever-growing collection.

The Barcelona magician became the first player in Champions League history to score in 16 consecutive seasons Tuesday, winning, and then converting, a first-half penalty against Ferencvaros.

No player in the tournament's history has scored at least one goal in more seasons than Messi and Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs. Giggs, however, didn't accomplish the feat in consecutive years.

Tuesday's tally also extended Messi's record for most teams scored against in the competition. Ferencvaros, the Hungarian squad, are the 36th team to watch Barcelona's talisman celebrate a goal at their expense.

Barcelona went on to claim a commanding 5-1 win despite finishing the contest with 10 men after Gerard Pique's red card.
