Manchester United announced Tuesday that they have parted ways with manager Jose Mourinho.

A short statement on the club's website read: Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect.

The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.

An interim manager will be appointed in the coming days and will take charge of the team until the end of the season. A new full-time manager is expected to be hired after the 2018-19 campaign.
