Cristiano Ronaldo's Champions League debut with Juventus ended in tears when the Portuguese superstar was shown a straight red card during Wednesday's tie with Valencia.
Juve fans were treated to a half-hour of Champions League action with Ronaldo in the fold before disaster struck when he appeared to knock over Valencia defender Jeison Murillo, who the 33-year-old presumably thought was simulating a foul.
After the head official spoke with the goal-line referee, it was decided that Ronaldo was guilty of a foul worthy of a straight red. It rules him out of a return to Old Trafford later in the tournament to take on his former team Manchester United.
