Manager Brendan Rodgers can't envision a scenario where Moussa Dembele leaves Celtic before the transfer window closes after confirming that the Scottish champions rejected a "significant" offer for the French forward.

Dembele has been reportedly linked with a move away from Celtic in recent days; Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed Wednesday that they've inquired about the player's interest in leaving the Scottish outfit.

Marseille is also said to be interested in luring him back to his homeland, but Rodgers explained Thursday that a move is unlikely.

"We have had a significant offer for Moussa Dembele which has been rejected; he's a player we don't want to lose, it's as simple as that," Rodgers told BBC Scotland, according to Sky Sports.

Rodgers, who revealed that Dembele will not take part in Thursday's match against Suduva, added: "There's not a huge list of players that can come in and offer the qualities Moussa gives us.

"It's very hard within three days (to the Scottish transfer window closing) to do that."

Aulas told reporters he's under the impression that Dembele is interested in joining Lyon, but revealed Thursday that Celtic are reluctant to part with a player that's scored 51 goals in 94 games since joining the Bhoys from Fulham in 2015. According to French outlet RMC, Aulus said, "we are going to continue to negotiate all night."
