Diego Maradona's agent and lawyer, Matias Morla, vowed to take legal action after three workers at a funeral parlor took photos next to the football icon's open casket on Thursday.

"For the memory of my friend, I won't rest until he pays for such an atrocity," Morla said, as translated by BBC News.

The funeral parlor, located in Buenos Aires, hired the three men to help prepare the coffin following Maradona's death Wednesday at the age of 60.

Two pictures emerged online showing the men smiling with their thumbs up near Maradona's deceased body, which was later honorably laid on display at the presidential palace for public viewing.

"We are devastated. The family trusted us. We have been working with them for a long time," Matias Picon, manager of the funeral parlor, said.

"The (Maradona) family has total confidence in us, that's why we are so affected.

"My father is 75 years old and he is crying, I am crying, my brother too, we are destroyed."

Maradona's ex-wife was "furious" after she was told about the incident, according to Picon.

The Argentine legend was buried Thursday during a private ceremony.

Various reports suggest at least one of the workers has been fired.
