Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer vehemently refuted reports that teenage star Mason Greenwood has been dropped from the squad for disciplinary reasons.

Greenwood, 19, was not on the team sheet for the Red Devils' weekend win over Newcastle United and is one of five first-team contributors who won't travel for Tuesday's Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

Solskjaer insists Greenwood has picked up a minor injury despite the forward's participation in a group training session on Monday at the club's Carrington facilities.

"Where are your sources, that's what I'm saying," Solskjaer said on Monday when probed about speculation that Greenwood breached club rules, according to ESPN's Rob Dawson.

"I can't declare medical stuff can I? We hope it's just a niggle, and we don't want to take any chances with him and, hopefully, at the weekend it'll be fine again."

Greenwood was forced to apologize in early-September after he and Manchester City's Phil Foden were dropped from Gareth Southgate's England squad due to breaking quarantine rules by inviting women to their hotel in Iceland.

Solskjaer backed Southgate's decision to drop Greenwood from the Three Lions squad for the ensuing international break, saying at the time: "Mason has to reflect on where he's at and what he needs to do, how to get to where he wants to get to."

Also missing out on the midweek continental foray due to various ailments are Harry Maguire, Jesse Lingard, Eric Bailly, and deadline-day signing Edinson Cavani.

"Edinson needs a few more days before he's ready. Hopefully Harry, Eric, and Mason, but we're not too sure on that," Solskjaer said.

"We hope Harry will be fit for the weekend, but we’re not sure," the Red Devils boss said about Maguire as United look ahead to Saturday's anticipated visit from Chelsea.
