Atletico Madrid are cleared to travel to Portugal for their Champions League quarterfinal match against RB Leipzig after a second round of COVID-19 testing on staff and players returned no positive results.

Tests over the weekend revealed two positive cases, and the club confirmed Monday that they belonged to forward Angel Correa and full-back Sime Vrsaljko. Both players are asymptomatic and will remain at home while the rest of the team heads to Lisbon on Tuesday.

The Croatian's case "is considered to be resolved by the health authorities, having generated antibodies (IgG) several months ago," the club added.

Atletico are due to play Leipzig on Thursday.

A UEFA spokesman said Monday that the match "is planned to be played as scheduled," according to Agence France-Presse.

All eight quarterfinalists will convene in the Portuguese capital this week. The Champions League is adopting a single-elimination format for the remainder of the competition due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The winner of Thursday's match between Atletico and Leipzig will meet either Atalanta or Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals.
