Nottingham Forest announced Wednesday that players and staff were tested for the coronavirus and that results came back negative after their owner, Evangelos Marinakis, revealed that he has the infectious disease.

A statement read: "Within hours of receiving the news that owner Evangelos Marinakis had tested positive for the virus, the club took swift action to arrange tests for the entire first-team players, staff and officers that came into contact with the owner last week.

"The club will remain in close dialogue with the relevant governing bodies and football authorities to ensure the correct measures are taken."

Marinakis, who also owns Greek giants Olympiacos, announced in an Instagram post on Tuesday that he had tested positive for COVID-19, but claimed that he feels "good".

Olympiacos also stated that their players and staff tested negative for the coronavirus. The Greek club is scheduled to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers behind closed doors on Thursday.

Marinakis was at Nottingham's stadium, City Ground, for Friday's Championship match against Milwall before he began to show symptoms on Monday, according to the Championship team.

On Tuesday, Arsenal announced that several players will be in self-isolation for 14 days due to the risk that they may have come into contact with the 52-year-old, who was present at the Emirates Stadium in north London to watch Olympiacos knock the Premier League club out of the Europa League.
